    Bridging Biomedical Engineering and Dentistry: Emerging Trends and Applications

    The convergence of the disciplines of biomedical engineering and dentistry has fostered remarkable advancements that have fundamentally transformed the realms of diagnostics, treatment methodologies, and preventive healthcare strategies, thereby establishing a new paradigm in patient care. This academic lecture aims to delve into the intricate and synergistic relationship that exists between these two vital fields, meticulously highlighting the innovative technologies that have been developed to effectively address the urgent and pressing challenges that confront dental health on a global scale. The principal areas of focus will encompass the utilization of advanced materials that exhibit superior properties, the implementation of microfluidic systems that facilitate precise fluid manipulation at the microscale, and the deployment of real-time diagnostic instruments that provide immediate feedback. Such groundbreaking technologies have significantly enhanced our ability to accurately detect oral diseases, yielding improved treatment outcomes that ultimately translate into enhanced quality of patient care. Moreover, the seamless integration of machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence frameworks within the domain of dentistry has effectively opened new avenues for the development of predictive diagnostics and individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient.     Prof. Dr Bojan B Petrovic, full professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of Novi Sad. Born on August 31, 1975 in Belgrade, Dr. Petrović completed his dental education at the Faculty of Dentistry in Belgrade in 2000. He further pursued his preventive and pediatric dentistry studies, earning his master's degree in 2007 and his doctoral degree in 2010. Dr. Petrović has made significant contributions to the field through his extensive publication record and participation in numerous programs of continuous medical education.
