BONE QUALITY – THE KEY TO SUCCESS IN IMPLANTOLOGY
The application of modern technological procedures and materials in the production of dental implants and the definition of implant placing and loading protocols have made implant therapy significantly more successful and predictable. The factor that has probably the most significant role in the success of the implantation is the bone as the acceptor of the implant. Procedures that can influence the quantity and quality of bone tissue in the area of planned implant placement are limited. Therefore, it is of crucial importance, in pre-implantation planning, to analyze the quantity and quality of bone tissue (bone density and distribution of spongiosa and compacta) and choose the optimal dimension and design of the implant, the implant placement protocol, any additional surgical procedures and the implant loading protocol. Such analyzes are facilitated in modern implantology by the use of CBCT softwares, which day by day provide us with more and more possibilities. In the lecture, the possibilities of bone tissue density analysis and pre-implantation planning in the CBCT software will be presented, as well as studies in which these procedures were used.
