    Issues with delivering inhalation sedation with nitrous oxide/oxygen

    This presentation will look into practical issues regarding this method of conscious sedation. Focus will be on the types of machines and their safety points, the gas cylinders and types of masks and scavenging. We will present the safety checks on the machine on the day of the appointment and will build a check-list to allow you to focus on your patient and the dental treatment. We will discuss preparation before, on the day and after the appointment, in order to deliver a session of dental treatment with a positive outcome for you and your patients. We will discuss strategies and tips to minimise staff exposure and maximise patient compliance. The aim is to answer all your practical questions and help you deliver smooth and comfortable dentistry for you and your patients.

    Dr Christina Tatsi
    DipDS, MDentSci, FRCD(Canada), MPaedDent(London), PhD, AFHEA

    Dr Christina Tatsi is a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry in the U.K. She qualified in 2001 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and completed her 3 years specialist training in 2006 at the Leeds Dental Institute, the only Institute in Europe eligible for the fellowship of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, which she obtained in 2007. She became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2009. She has completed in 2015 a PhD research degree with a scholarship from the University of Leeds, investigating the prevention of early caries in orthodontic patients. She is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
    Christina has also an active interest in teaching and academia with experience in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Paediatric Dentistry, having worked for King's College London as a Specialist Clinical Teacher at Denmark Hill Dental Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital in London. She is a member of the British Society and European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry. She takes an active interest in the research and development of evidence-based dentistry for children by attending and presenting in International Conferences and being a member of research associations with an interest in caries and dental trauma. Christina has publications in peer-reviewed journals and is also a reviewer for the European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry.
    Christina has taught and has been treating with inhalation sedation children and people with special needs in hospital, university and private setting for 20 years.
