Dr. med. dent. Ioannis Vouros is Professor at the Department of Preventive Dentistry, Periodontology and Implant Biology, and since 2011 the Director of the Postgraduate Program in Periodontology and Implant Biology, School of Dentistry, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
He accomplished his undergraduate studies in Dentistry at the Dental School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Doctor of Dental Surgery, D.D.S.).
1981-1982 he received a postgraduate training in Oral Surgery at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Universitätsklinikum Essen, in Germany. From June 1982 to September 1985 he completed a training in Periodontology and received a PhD degree at the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology, School of Dentistry, Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Bonn, Germany.
Since September 1987 he maintains a private practice in Thessaloniki limited to Periodontology. Since April 1989 he is a member of the staff of the Department of Preventive Dentistry Periodontology and Implant Biology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
From 1999 to 2015 he was member of the Board and from 2013-2015 he served as the
President of the Hellenic Society of Periodontology.
He has published more than 90 articles in the field of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry in national and international scientific Journals.
He has lectured as an invited speaker, moderator in more than 150 conferences and scientific events on the field of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. His publications have received more than 930 Citations, his h-index is 15 and i-10 index 21 (Google-Scholar https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=bGnYqLMAAAAJ).
His main research activities are Periodontal Regeneration, Guided Bone Regeneration, Implant Dentistry, evidenced based therapy in Oral Health.
