Medically compromised patients: primary oral manifestations leading to early diagnosis
Oral manifestations of systemic diseases are important clinical findings, being sometimes the primary findings of a systemic disease.
Their evaluation is crucial, because it leads to an early diagnosis, resulting to an effective treatment. Some clinical cases, like atrophic glossitis, orofacial granulomatosis, desquamative gingivitis, periodontitis and oral cancer, are being presented. Their description and evaluation, as well as their differential diagnosis approach, is also presented.
In conclusion, the role of the contemporary dentist is very important not only for the teeth treatment, but for the patient treatment, contributing in the diagnosis and treatment of systemic diseases.
